Watered Down Bacon
It is nearly impossible to get good bacon in this country, and it's something I've struggled with for years. They tend to pump water into it to make it look bigger, then it all runs out when you cook it, fat leaks out with it and gets caked to the side, absolutely disgusting to look at, and the taste is either bland or extremely salty.
This is not to say I've never found good bacon, there was actually some very nice bacon the other day but it was imported from America I believe (Oscar Meyer) and I'd recommend it to anybody if you can find it.
Anyway, this packaging from new "improved" bacon I saw a few weeks back made me laugh, and pretty much explains the problem (click for full picture)

I'm so glad you live in such an advanced country. Here in SA they haven't even discovered the innate danger of consuming too much white stuff :0 We'll probably all die of whitosis within the next year - and they'll just put it down to a virus again. At least you'll live to see the truth gets out ;P
and then people wonder why there are vegetarians out there ;)
