Citizenship, Step 2

Well, the British Nationality Division in Liverpool gave me a pleasant surprise by replying to my request within a week! I got my letter today stating that I haven't applied for UK citizenship yet so tomorrow I can hopefully post off my application to retain my South African citizenship.

In the meantime I've also ordered this exciting looking book: Life in the United Kingdom: A Journey to Citizenship. I'll need to know all this stuff to write a compulsory test before I make my application.

With chapters like "Government and laws", "Religious and ethnic diversity" and "Role of women" it's probably something I'd want to read anyway, even if there was no test! ;-)
