ATTN: Everyone This week has proven quite fruitful. With releases from Travis Scott and Frank Ocean, Foster the People, Gorillaz, Katy Perry, and DJ Khaled, we have been blessed with an assortment of fresh music. So, let’s take a look, shall we? “Lens” from Frank Ocean is wonderful. It reminds me of nostalgia ULTRA and is a sweet addition to the Frank wave we’ve been riding since “Slide.” On the other side of things, we have Foster the People debuting a tri-track single that ranges from slightly experimental to precisely poignant. “SHC” is the obvious claim to fame, but “Pay the Man” and “Doing It for the Money” are in obvious thematic cahoots. Likewise, we received the new Gorillaz album. Although it took me a little time to get through all of it, I was overwhelmed with the pleasant and shifting nature of the album. It’s everything Gorillaz but with fresh sonic twists, and includes features from a treasure trove of artists. Favorite tracks include, but are not limited to: “Interlude: The Non-conformist Oath,” “Out Of Body” and “Ticker Tape.” Humanz Deluxe Edition is a beautiful 26 track album that takes you to the moon tower and back — or something like that. Lastly, we got hit with two new pop bangers. “Bon Appetit” from Perry with Migos on the track, and, “I’m the One” with Khaled, Chance, Quavo, Bieber and Weezy. I’m not a fan of Perry or her new track, but at least Migos make up for her lack of talent. Converseley, Khaled put together the super team on his release, and is the obvious choice for chart topper for the week. Thanks for joining me in the music neighborhood this week. Stay sweet, my friends.
