We at Electric Sloth had the pleasure of attending yet another installment of Red Bull Sound Select #30DaysInLA series featuring Pusha T, at The Belasco in downtown LA. The Belasco had the same warm Red Bull feel all these shows have had, starting from the photo booth down to the lighting. Being the “genius” that he is and also the head of GOOD music I was excited for what was to come. Unfortunately, thanks to the lovely LA traffic we missed both opening sets by Tunji IGE and Boogie, but there still was a lingering line of fans anxiously trying to get in. Pusha T hopped on at about 10:30 and threw it back with some old school CLIPSE tracks- that only the die-hard Pusha fans really sang along too. I personally love the transformation in his career from just “Pusha T” to “King Push” and his masterful productions and other pieces of work reflect how good the transformation has been. Pusha T performs at the Belasco Theater as part of Red Bull Sound Select Presents: 30 Days in LA, in Los Angeles, CA, USA on 16 November, 2016. One of the last songs he performed was “Drug Dealer’s Anonymous” one of my favorite songs of the year and also by Push. Everyone was hoping they would hear some new tracks off his upcoming King Push album but that’s all it was…hope. Although the Belasco and crowd were fully hyped his set was extremely short and very “Kanye-esque”. He got on around 10:30pm and got off before 11:10pm. Many fans were very confused and disappointed. Unfortunately, a few boos were heard and a stillness remained amongst a crowd full of unspent energy. After waiting around a few more minutes in hopes for an encore we had to toss in the towel and make our way out. However, the lovely staff at Red Bull made it quite alright with some fresh gooey cookies being handed out at the exit. Red Bull Sound Select continually crafts unforgettable events, and this month of shows is another for the books. There are a few shows left in the #30DaysInLA series and I highly suggest you try and catch a show.
