5 Artists on the Rise Ready For Domination Brian ManningWednesday, August 31, 2016News0 Comments It’s only a little over the halfway mark for 2016, and we’re already overwhelmed with the amount of new music and new artists that have popped up this year. Now that festival season has slowly began to fizzle out, we wanted to take a moment to reflect back on which artists-on-the-rise have really stood out so far this year, and why we believe you should be paying attention to what they’re doing. Ranging from progressive house to dreamy ambient music, get an in-depth glimpse into this year’s biggest up-and-coming acts. 1. Nick Martin Our first pick is Greece’s newest export Nick Martin. The creative newcomer burst onto the scene this past spring with his melodious summer anthem “Looking For Love,” and has been touring across southern Europe with a notable group of huge artists like Hardwell, Avicii, and Nervo. His fast-track to success hasn’t gone unnoticed, and we look forward to seeing if his next highly-anticipated single “Skyline” featuring Tigerlily will bring Nick Martin to new heights. 2. ARYA A bright new face to the OWLSA camp, Chicago-native producer ARYA has made a loud entrance into the music world with his self-described ‘Lion Sound’. Last year, he released his ‘Vicious’ EP that brought him a giant wave of attention and a burgeoning reputation, and now he’s been circling the US with fellow heavy-hitters Getter, Vindata, and Wuki. With more music on the way, you’ll definitely be hearing more of ARYA in the near future. 3. BlackGummy Coming from the city of Los Angeles, mau5trap member Iman Marouf – aka BlackGummy – is still light on information at the moment, but his grizzly, alien-like industrial music speaks volumes. Earlier this year he released his ‘Singularity’ EP, taking listeners on an epic journey of evolving soundscapes and dark experiential rhythms. 4. Unlike Pluto After his remix of Diplo’s hit single “Revolution” rolled out across the mainstages of the 2015 summer festivals, Unlike Pluto has been evolving his sound into something truely unique. Well-deserving of more attention, the young producer has recently signed with the independent dance label Monstercat, where he just released three original singles. 5. Japanese Wallpaper Creating the perfect sound for those late-night chill seasons, Melbourne-based producer Japanese Wallpaper is capable of creating some serious dream-state tunes. His latest release “Cocoon” is a beautiful display of expressive sound design and fine-tuned production, proving that this newcomer is in for a fruitful future.
