Los Angeles native and electronic producer SouthHum has released his release of Steve James’ “Renaissance” in light of the Renaissance Remix competition hosted by Ultra Music. With over 700 views on SoundCloud, the remix opens up with a sample from the film 500 Days of Summer which at first seems to be a bit of a mellow set but quickly it builds into a melodic house beat that sustains the original intention of the track while molding it to the SouthHum sound. When the beat drops, the bouncy rhythms and syncopated synths offer a distinct and unique twist on the track. Later the track devolves into a second breakdown that remains light on its feet but fresh in its beats. Overall the track is a powerful remix and I hope it does well in the competition. Keep up with SouthHum on SoundCloud and check out his track on the Ultra Music leader board.
