ADOPT THE ARTS Benefit Concert Announced Jake SkochdopoleMonday, May 9, 2016EventsRockUpcoming Events0 Comments22 views “Only 35 out of 700 schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District have ‘A’ quality arts programs.” ADOPT THE ARTS, a non-profit with the mission of funding arts programs in public elementary schools, has announced a concert and auction that will take place on May 12th at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles. The event will specifically benefit the public elementary schools of the drastically underfunded Los Angeles Unified School District. Performers will be gathering from all corners of the United States to perform with and honor 2016 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Nominees Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple) and Robin Zander (Cheap Trick) for their contributions to American art and culture. “I’m extremely honored to be accepting an award from such an admirable charity, Adopt the Arts,” explains Glenn Hughes. “Matt Sorum has gone to great lengths to help create a program for children to have musical instruments in their lives and in turn to provide love and harmony in our lives. I’m humbled and grateful. See you at the event at the Henry Fonda Theatre in Hollywood on Thursday, May 12. I’m really looking forward to performing for you all, let’s make it a magical night.” Robin Zander added that, “All of my career I’ve been involved in promoting the arts in elementary schools and I’m proud to be part of Adopt the Arts Honors. My thanks goes out to the foundation and I hope that fans everywhere will come and join us for a successful evening of fun, music and fundraising. See you there.” Members of Velvet Revolver, Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Guns N’ Roses, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more will all be present to show their support for both the honorees and Adopt the Arts. In 2015, the charity raised over $106,000 in a single night at a similar event. We hope that our Los Angeles-based fans consider attending this meaningful event to help Adopt the Arts double their numbers from last year’s event! The live auction, taking place the same night will feature memorabilia from hugely popular bands including Metallica, Aerosmith, Foo Fighters, ZZ Top, and Sammy Hagar. Tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased here.
