Drake Relases Diss Track – Summer Sixteen Garrett GomezWednesday, February 3, 2016CultureHip-Hop & R&BNew MusicNews0 Comments Drake has come back once again with a diss track that calls out not only Meek Mill, but Kanye West as well. The track, “Summer Sixteen”, premiered on Drake’s Beats 1 show OVO Sound Radio. Drake also simultaneously announced that his highly anticipated Views from The 6 album would be set to release in April. Let’s go ahead and start by saying that Drake does not give a single care in the world about anything. He’s rapping for himself and no one else. Firstly in “Summer Sixteen”, he calls Meek out, “You don’t have to try to say it louder nigga, We could hear you the first time”. Then, he calls out the legendary Kanye stating, “And look man, Ye’s pool is nice, mine is just bigger is what I’m saying”. Beyond all of that, he essentially calls out any rapper in the L.A. area, hell even the United States. “How you let me run it down here, I’m not even from around here.” Damn. Drake also name drops Draymond Green before he tells Jay-Z that “I used to wanna be on Roc-A-fella then I turned in Jay” solidifying his position as perhaps better than Jay Z. Of course, DJ Khaled finishes the track with an enthusiastic but unneeded outro. “They don’t want us to have a bigger pool than Kanye!” This track has really set the bar high for other rappers including Kendrick Lamar, to retaliate in force. The new year is only a month in and the rap game is already looking like a war zone. Who will win the rap wars that have escalated to this point? With so many new rap albums dropping this year, it’ll be a miracle if anyone makes it out alive.
