On October 28th, Lunice released his remix of G Jones and Bleep Bloop’s “Mind” via Liquid Amber, providing us with just a small glimpse into the potential of the now-dropped EP. The remix premiered on Beats 1 Radio as Zane Lowe’s ‘World Record’ of the day and was immediately hailed as a hit for its simply “MAD” qualities as Zane described it. Listen to it here

The remix is the result of G Jones and Bleep Bloop’s first full collaborative EP release titled, Mind, which features mysterious vibes and heavy back beats. Each unique track on the EP is chock full of twists, turns, and erratic analog sounds. Electric Sloth was able to get a sneak-peek at the EP before it’s release. If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, you can here.

“Plastic Flower People” immediately takes the listener by surprise. It’s saturated with heavy bass and coupled with classic glitch hop vibes: a siren, cut vocals, and a beeping noise that can only be described as head-banging. “Real” has a slightly more dance feel but when the bass drops and the track cuts into half-time, it gives off an almost spy-mechanic vibe, meaning it could easily be the music behind any spy-action sequence. Perhaps it’ll be in Spectre on Saturday? “Mind” truly is something else, it keeps with a more typical bass pattern, but what stands out are the melodies and synths. Not only do they provide an interesting take on the off-beat counts of the track, but each one is unique. There’s a bubble-like sound in conjunction with trippy-hi-hats and a snare sequence that keeps you engaged and ready for action throughout the piece. Lunice’s masterful remix is the last on the EP, and to quote him, “I was more than happy to work for a remix for the label. And the song was really good too so it was a no-brainer.” He keeps it energized with a vocal synth and crash sounds that will modulate between a four-on-the-floor and heavy bass synth.

Overall, G Jones and Bleep Bloop’s Mind release via DJ Shadow’s Liqud Amber label is one for the books. You can check out the reddit AMA that they’re currently hashing out with fans here.
