Austin City Limits is one of the most renowned and ubiquitous music festivals in the world. ACL always displays a wide variety of artists, this year ACL will feature over 130 bands performing at eight unique stages in the live music capital of the world. ACL is pulling out all the stops, some of their headliners include: Foo Fighters, Drake, Disclosure, Deadmau5, Bassnectar, The Weeknd, and The Strokes.

The Foo Fighters’ are known for their extraordinary live performances, professionalism, and unique sound. The release of Disclosure’s newest album, Caracal, comes out on the 25th, so we will have to pay particular attention to their masterful set to see how they incorporate their latest with the classics during his Friday night slot. Another artist we look forward to, although not technically a headliner, is Leon Bridges. Leon recently took the music scene by storm with the release of his album, Coming Home. He is one of the most talented musicians we will see at ACL, with his latest NPR tiny desk sessions having demonstrated how talented he is as a vocalist and performer. Other performers that we look forward to Friday include: Flosstradamus, Tame Impala, Moon Taxi, the lesser known In The Whale and the effervescent  Billy Idol.

Deadmau5 is one of the greatest DJs in the world, and will perform during the Saturday night slot. Drake will also be performing Saturday night, hopefully Meek Mill doesn’t show up for the threepeat.. The fiery southern and blues-rock Alabama Shakes will take their spot on stage on Saturday night. Brittany Howard is the lead singer of the group, and she is notorious for just absolutely belting out astounding vocal performances.  Duo Twenty One Pilots will take the Saturday afternoon spot, we think they will play most of their most recent album, Blurryface, but we can always hope for some throwbacks coming from Vessel. We also look forward to the laidback vibes that will be brought by Milo Greene and Glass Animals. But of course, we won’t leave out our rap monsters G-Eazy and A$AP Rocky.

BØRNS will take his place on Sunday afternoon, his smash hit, Electric Love” is fantastic, we can’t wait to see him perform it live alongside his other wonderful songs. Sylvan Esso can take me out to coffee during her Sunday afternoon set, her voice is like a fresh cup of joe on a beautiful Austin morning. Chance The Rapper, alt-J, Classixx, Vance Joy, Hozier, and Nero will also be taking the stage with an enormous amount of energy to be seen from each artist. One artist that we will pay particular attention to is the Muddy Magnolias, composed of Brooklynite Jessy Wilson and Texan Kallie North, the duo blends Country sounds with funk, jazz and R&B. Rolling Stone commented, “the newly-formed duo capitalizes on powerhouse vocals, no-holds-barred harmonies and a vibe that’s like the Band Perry raised on Aretha Franklin — performed as if Mick Jagger and Keith Richards inhabited the Indigo Girls.” So be on the lookout for them this ACL Festival.

Although the artists play a big part of the festival, ACL offers much more than just music. ACL has partnered with several high-quality eateries that will serve festival-goers during the weekend. Austin’s Pizza, Hat Creek Burger Co., Maine Root Beverages, and The Salt Lick BBQ are just a few of the numerous vendors that will be satisfying everyone’s hunger and thirst needs. ACL has also partnered with several art entities and will feature a unique Art Market on their home turf. Everything from Austin Art Garage, to Ornamental Things, and the classic TOMS will be present at the market. Of course, to make the weekend even sweeter, ACL is partaking in the philanthropic mission by creating ACL Cares and partnering with the likes of Keep Austin Beautiful, The Nature Conservancy, and Love Hope Strength. If you were worried about hiring a babysitter for the weekend, have no fear! ACL has mounted a 2015 Austin Kiddie Limits area that will be open from 11:00am-5:00pm each day of both weekends. They will have creative and informative activities that will offer families an escape from the crowds, and a time for everyone to be a kid again.  In addition to having kid friendly artists like School of Rock, The Pop Ups, and Motown Pete.

So, in short, Electric Sloth is immeasurably excited to cover this year’s Austin City Limits Music Festival. We hope to see you there.
