ZZ Ward is awaiting the release of her sophomore album, This Means War, and she can’t help but show everyone what she’s been working so hard on. Back in June, she released the single, “LOVE 3X.” It’s a great summer tune that is based around lyrics that many can relate to. It’s when you feel so infatuated by something that you can’t help but just exude a smile and tell everyone about it. To show the many ways in which this can be expressed, ZZ Ward asked five diverse producers to re-imagine the track.

Joywave, the Rochester-bred band, are usually ones to play in more indie areas, but for this remix, they decide to show off a darker and more agitated side to Ward’s track. Changing her blissful croons into cries for love, Joywave filter ZZ Ward’s voice into a digitally sounding songstress while layering warped ambient synths, spastic percussion, and tense build ups to really separate themselves from the other four remixes.

With R3HAB, RAC, Robert Delong, and AOBeats all taking ZZ Ward from different directions, Joywave fills our need for future beats and ambient tendencies. You can check all of the remixes out on ZZ Ward’s SoundCloud. This Means War will be released on September 18th.
