Earlier this year, deadmau5 teamed up with Beatport to host a remix competition for Dillon Francis’ gritty, electro re-work of the mau5trap boss’s iconic progressive anthem. The winner was Andrei Stephen, an immensely talented, eighteen-year-old from Canada, who proved that his talent was undeniable and that he had a future in dance music. As the winner of the remix competition, Stephen was able to cement his legacy as one of dance music’s emerging stars, and fulfill a lifelong dream by releasing his remix of “Some Chords” on mau5trap.

Stephen’s comprehensive grasp on sound design is well beyond his years, and his production talent shines through in his remix. His unique electro style that draws from facets of future house packs a big punch, and manages to elevate the track without watering down any of the iconic elements of the original. Stephen’s remix of “Some Chords” is available for purchase on Beatport here.
