Electric Sloth’s Top 10 Deep Tracks of 2014 Elijah PantojaTuesday, December 30, 2014Bass MusicDeep HouseNewsOpinionReviews0 Comments 2014 was a huge year for the deeper sounds of EDM, and many new artists rocketed to fame. From future bass to tropical house, this list pays tribute to the best of the growing collection of deep tracks. Porter Robinson – Divinity (Filous Remix) Know for his infusion of smooth guitar into deep house tracks, Filous recently made waves with his unique take on Porter Robinson’s “Divinity”. If you haven’t heard of Filous and are a fan of the deep house scene, you’re missing out! Pretty Lights – Lost and Found (ODESZA Remix) One of the more established acts of the genre, ODESZA do no wrong in their remix of “Lost and Found”. Masters of their trade, the duo will only grow bigger as we move into the new year. Embody ft. Barnaby – With You This song caught my attention as a standout track in the deep house scene. With a grimy, yet smooth bass plucking a funky tune, “With You” quickly become one of my favorite deep house tracks of the year. Cazzette – Sleepless A surprising shift from the duo’s electro house style, “Sleepless” took the EDM community by storm and helped to usher in the era of deep house. Lorde – Tennis Courts (Flume Remix) An instant classic, the long awaited Flume remix had everyone becoming an instant fan of future bass by the first listen. Seinabo Sey – Younger (Kygo Remix) It seems as everyone grew tired of the big room phase, a reactionary movement began to take place. Artists dabbled in calmer sounds, but no one developed their own style as quickly and with as large of an impact as Kygo did. Arguably the father of tropical house, Kygo had a massive year from replacing Avicii as the headliner at TommorowWorld, to signing with Sony. Karin Park – Shine (Nebbra Remix) A relatively up-and-coming artist on the scene, Nebbra has a unique style that tastefully combines future bass synths with more natural brass to create unforgettable hooks. Angus and Julia Stone – Grizzly Bear (Synapson Remix) A song to play when you’re in the car with your closest friends on an open road, Synapson’s remix of “Grizzly Bear” is a feel-good sound that will have people from every generation grooving to the funky synths. https://soundcloud.com/synapson/angus-julia-stone-grizzly-bear?in=eveoak/sets/tropical-house Thijs bos – Alice I accidentally stumbled across this song on Soundcloud and must say that it was one of my favorite finds. From making friends laugh at the vocal chops, to getting the girlfriend to “play that one electronic song”, this track provides a good time for all listeners with it’s smooth saws and heavy kicks. Dawn Golden – All I Want (Manila Killa Remix) One of my favorite tracks of the year, this Manila Killa remix provides the listener with a flurry of emotions. With a rather nostalgic and calming beginning, the tropical bridge lifts the spirits and provides a nice balance to the otherwise melancholy track.
