The Australian electronic music duo, Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen, are at it again, and they’re bringing their ‘A’ game.  On August 22nd, Knife Party announced the official release date of their upcoming album; ‘Abandoned Ship’ and October 27th couldn’t come sooner. Since Swire debuted the teaser titled, “Boss Mode” on his Soundcloud, talk of the new album has filled social media with fans concerned that Knife Party wouldn’t be returning to their original grimy, drum and bass style.

The preview consisted of a trap-style, glitch hop mix, which is out of character for the hard-hitting bass heads.  Just as they promised, the dyad uploaded the first full-length song today and tweeted, “For fucks sake…there was so much rain today, the studio must have sprung a leak!” at 3:03 p.m. P.S.T.Plot twist: It is a free download!

Even if you do not have access to what Knife Party calls, “secret internet powers” they will also be making the single available for free on iTunes. The emblematic sound of Knife Party truly radiates throughout the song as melodic riffs are combined with a fury of the fast-paced, drum and bass kicks that their fans love. In past months, the pair was not able to tour together, as Swede was working on finishing up the album. Again on twitter, Swede stated that he would tour once the album was complete.

Now that we have the first, leak, single and release date, anticipation to see Knife Party live and in action has skyrocketed. Since the album is now completed, they can both be seen this coming Labor Day weekend in New York at the electronic music festival, Electric Zoo, with other big names including David Guetta, Dada Life, Nicky Romero and Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. All in all, we asked for more from Knife Party and they delivered. Can’t seem to get your hands on the new single and need to hear it now? See below for the link and get your own party started.
