There will be tons of great music all taking place on Randall’s Island over the span of 3 days. This year, Made Events has been sure to account for some other important aspects as well. There has been some particular attention to environmentally friendly green initiatives this year. In addition there will be a new feature to the the event this year: a live broadcast from SirusXM Radio. You may be wondering what exactly is being done with the green initiative program. Overall, this program consists of a number of measures to help keep the earth clean and preserve this venue’s natural beauty for future use. One step that has been provided is an on site recycling program for all kinds of trash. Another step they take is having half of the generators used at the event run on 100% biodiesel alternative fuel made from recycled NYC fryer grease and the other half run on a B50 blend of 50% bio diesel and 50% diesel. In addition to this, all other gas powered tools used at the event will be run on a B30 blend of 30% bio diesel and 70% diesel. Electric Zoo will run a strict system to avoid using the backup generators as well to save gas! Gas is not the only way the green initiative will affect this event as there will also be some rules towards the food put into place. There will be no factory farmed meats sold at this event. All food products and beer will also be served in compostable ware ( This includes utensils, cups, plates, and napkins). As for the newest feature added to this years festival, this year SirusXM satellite radio listeners will be able to tune in to a live feed from the zoo itself! The stream can be found on “Electric Area” on channel number 52! For those of you who want to stream in, you can make an account free for 30 days here.
