Promoting giants Insomniac, the brains behind the internationally renown Electric Daisy Carnival, and Madison House, creators of Basscenter, are setting out to create one of the most unique festivals in the world. Electric Forest, what is well regarded as the North Coast’s most prominent music festival, is back for 2013 and stronger than ever.

Rothbury, Michigan is gearing up for one of the most epic live-music events of the year.  As the extended lineup has been released, we know that Electric Forest is a force to be reckoned with.  The headliners of this year’s festival include The String Cheese Incident, Pretty Lights, and Passion Pit showing that the event is focusing on a plethora of musical styles.  Other notable acts include Grizmatik, the offspring of badass EDM groups Griz and Gramatik (shocker), seizure music all-stars Knife Party, infamous hoodie boys, Flosstradamus, and hardstyle king Headhunterz.  With the music scheduled until almost 4am every night, festival-goers are in for a real adventure.

The music isn’t all this festival has to offer; the art that Electric Forest is curating this year is beyond measure.  Each piece was selected through the Plug-In’s Art Installation Sponsorship Competition in which Electric Forest provided the selected teams with $3000 to build their piece as well as credentials and meals during the festival.  This only accents Electric Forest’s commitment to collaborating with the fans in an effort to put on the best event possible.  With heavy Burning Man influence, installations this year are bound to dazzle.  The Dream Garden, an original piece by Chicago-based artist Abbey Denlinger, is set to be a series of large-scale, UV-sensitive dream catchers that will be suspended from the trees in Sherwood forest.  Next up, a group called the Resolution Factory has set out to build an interactive, 24 foot tall, bioluminescent tree that will blow guests away when they are able to change the sounds and sights the the piece emits by interacting with it; this piece is titled “Bioluminescence.”  The last art piece to be revealed prior to the festival is called “Electric Garden.”  This piece features almost 40 giant, luminescent flower sculptures situated deep in the forest was created by a collective by the name of das’lala.  Electric Forest still has some tricks up its sleeve as far as art pieces go, but we’ll just have to wait until day 1 to find out what those tricks are.

With an absolutely star-studded lineup, and incredibly creative talent being showcased, Electric Forest is the place to be.  The festival is to take place from June 27th-30th, and it is not something to be missed.  If you’re interested in finding out more about the art pieces, or how you can get tickets, follow the links below!
