Though it is mostly overlooked, it is no secret that modern dubstep has lost its sense of fun. It is focused so much on being the dirtiest and the heaviest that it forgets to give the listener something fun that they can dance to. Fortunately, Never Say Die regular Habstrakt is having enough fun to compensate for some of the deficiency.

He just released the previews for his new EP entitled ‘Eat Me’ and man is it fun. It opens with the song ‘Take That’, which is very reminiscent of his label mate, Eptic and has all the energy that characterizes Eptic‘s tracks. ‘Take That’ is then followed by the laid back yet grooving title track. ‘Eat Me’  features 1990s chord stabs and an acid-esque bassline over minimalist drums. The next song, ‘The Rise’ has a similar feel to ‘Take That’, with a screaming midrage and heavy bass. To top the album off is ‘Bubbles’, a funky glitch hop banger with high energy leads and a funky line.

The EP is set for release on June 10th and you can expect to hear these tunes everywhere this summer. Until then, take a listen to the previews.
