What better way to start the Throwback Thursday segment than with Big Beat legend, British DJ/Producer Fatboy Slim! Norman Cook, AKA Fatboy Slim is true a legend in the Electronic Music scene. 1998’s “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby” is unarguably one of the best Electronic Albums there is. With wildly popular tracks such as “The Rockafeller Skank” and “Right Here, Right Now”, Cook became an overnight success. “Praise You”, also from this album, was Cook’s first UK solo number one on the charts. It’s music video, starring Spike Jonze, won numerous awards. But the song that stuck out most to me off this album was “Love Island”. A simple track? Maybe, but truly a banger to the fullest meaning of the word, a very relaxed and mellow intro, then it cuts to a noisy buzz saw sounding bass line. The drop comes in with that same bass line practically stabbing the speakers and a thunderous BreakBeat drum beat to carry it.

I heard this song for the first time when I was 7 years old in 1998, probably the first Electronic song I remember getting into, and it still gets me dancing at 21! Which makes it to me, a true classic, this song was, and continues to be one of my all time favorites!
